One to Five Star Review Guidelines
Critics of the Five Star Rating System complain that too many people rate everything either a five star or one star with very few in between star ratings. Users can rate businesses however they see fit but in order to maintain some consistency and avoid the “everything’s a 5 or a 1” syndrome, MC Yellow Pages suggests you consider the following when rating a listed business.
- Five Star – truly exemplary product and service. So much so that user would not even consider using a competitor for future needs and emphatically endorses and recommends the business
- Four Star – had a very good experience and satisfactory experience with the business, would consider strongly for future needs, and would pass along info to others in need of like services and products.
- Three Star – have neither strong approval or disapproval of the business
- Two Star – had a negative experience with the business and would use again only as a last resort (no other competitor can be found). Would discourage friends and neighbors from working with the business
- One Star – horrible experience, would vehemently discourage others from working with the business
Written Review Guidelines
Try and provide others who view your written review with useable information. Primarily, state what you like or dislike about the goods and services provided. Just a few examples are included below:
- The craftsmen showed up on time, completed the work on time, and cleaned up after themselves.
- The product is made from subpar materials.
- The laborers loudly used derogatory language while on the job.
- I was invoiced for an amount higher than the quoted price.
- Excellent materials were used in completion of the job.
- I was left in a predicament because halfway through the job, I was informed that the cost would be higher than estimated for factors that the craftsman should have been aware of and considered when providing the initial estimate.
- Product design is exceptional and better than other because it offers advanced features.
- The business provides a solid warranty and stand behind it.
Derogatory language and slurs provide no useable purpose and reviews containing such will generally be deleted or edited.
The “write a review” link requires users to submit both a star rating and written review. At the moment, we know of no way to set this up so that users can simply provide a star rating but not write a review (like Amazon). However, users can simply type “no comment” in the review box to go along with their star rating.
