Explanation of Image Upload Issues
Images are reduced automatically to 600 pixels max along x or y axis, which ever is longer, with the remaining axis being reduced proportionately. This happens prior to upload which greatly reduces the upload time and also increases speed of the website.
Today’s phones, by default, are set up to take very high resolution pictures. This is wonderful if you want to print and frame the picture; however, realize that the picture does not display at super high resolutions on a device (phone, laptop, etc) even though you took the picture with that same device. 600 pixel images are a good size for an adequate website display regardless of the device you’re using (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.)
